Yona of the Dawn, one of the best shojo mangas out there, has been running for 16 years. It’s sold over 15 million copies worldwide. But now, it’s time to say goodbye. The final chapter drops on December 19, 2025.

The news comes straight from the publisher, Hana to Yume, and the author, Mizuho Kusanagi, on their X (Twitter) accounts. They say the next three chapters will wrap up the whole story. Fans are shocked—many hoped the final arc would go on longer. Plus, there’s still huge demand for a Season 2 of the anime by Studio Pierrot.

When and How Does It End?

The manga kicked off its final arc back in June 2024. Then, it took a break from July to October 2025. Looking back, that hiatus might have been to build up to this big finish. It feels a bit quick, but these last chapters should tie up all the loose ends.

Author Mizuho Kusanagi shared this on October 30, 2025: “The reason it ended up as a notice with only three times left is because I kept everyone waiting until the very last minute to decide when to land. I’m truly grateful to all the editorial team members who accommodated my pace!”

Right now, in chapter 273, Hak seems dead but his spirit won’t quit—he promised to stay with Yona forever. What happens to Yona’s friends? It’s all up in the air. These final chapters will be packed with action and feels.

The Manga World Is Changing Fast

Yona isn’t the only big series saying bye. Other hits like Black Clover are ending soon, while Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia already finished. In shojo and josei, Nana’s long break hurts. But don’t worry—there’s tons of fresh stuff to dive into.

Berserk from the same publisher (Hakusensha) is still going slow and steady. For seinen/josei fans, check out Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End—it’s a must-read.

Nothing beats Yona’s mix of adventure, romance, and growth, though. The wait for Season 2 anime is tough, but Studio Pierrot’s better production now makes it worth hoping for.
