A star from the original Avatar: The Last Airbender show has a fresh idea for a prequel series that fans would love. This story focuses on the Ozai redemption arc.
On the newest episode of the Avatar: Braving the Elements podcast, voice actor Greg Baldwin shared his thoughts. He plays Uncle Iroh after the original actor Mako passed away in 2006. Baldwin said people often talk about Zukos redemption arc. But he wants to see the Ozai redemption arc more than anything else.

Baldwin explained why. He said to take the most powerful man in the world and put him in a place with no power would change him. Losing everything would make him humble. That story would interest him a lot.
The talk also covered Irohs own redemption arc. It was mentioned in the show but never shown fully. Baldwin said he would like to see Iroh when he was not so kind.
Fire Lord Ozai ruled the Fire Nation for most of Avatar: The Last Airbender. He was the main bad guy in the series. Mark Hamill voiced him in the cartoon. In the Netflix live action version, Daniel Dae Kim played the role. Ozai scarred his son Zuko on purpose. Zuko wanted to catch the Avatar to gain his fathers approval. Zuko found his own path to redemption instead. Ozai stayed a clear villain until Avatar Aang beat him. Aang took away his bending and locked him up for his crimes at the end of the show.
After the original series ended, fans saw Ozai in other stories. This includes the Dark Horse Comics Avatar: The Last Airbender The Promise graphic novel trilogy. That story is about the Harmony Restoration Movement. It aimed to remove all Fire Nation control from the Earth Kingdom. It sounds simple at first. But it gets hard when Zuko says one Fire Nation colony should stay. That colony mixed well with the Earth Kingdom. Zuko got that idea from his father Ozai. Even in prison with no throne or freedom, Ozai still pushed his own plans. This shows Ozais hold on the Fire Nation would last his whole life.
This Ozai redemption arc idea fits the themes of Avatar: The Last Airbender. The show is full of stories about change and growth. Zukos journey proved even bad choices can lead to good paths. An Ozai redemption arc could explore what happens when power is gone. It might show if the Fire Lord could learn real lessons. Fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender comics and the Netflix Avatar series would enjoy this deep look at the villain. Baldwin’s pitch adds excitement to the ATLA universe. It could be the prequel that ties old and new stories together.
